The PPFFA is saddened to report the death of Brother Jeff Cole long time member and past president of Williamsport,  IAFF Local 736.  Brother Cole passed away last night from job related cancer.  Please see the information and link below regarding arrangements.

It is with heavy hearts that Williamsport Firefighters, IAFF Local 736, announce the Line of Duty Death of Platoon Chief Jeffery A. Cole.  Chief Cole passed away at home October 7, 2011 at 23:30 hours after a brief but courageous battle with job-related cancer.  Chief Cole was born January 7, 1959 and was 52 years old.

Chief Cole was appointed to the Williamsport Bureau of Fire on September 8, 1980, and had 31 years of service.  During his tenure with the Bureau, he served as a Firefighter, Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Lieutenant for 5 years and Platoon Chief for 12 years.

Chief Cole was a very active member of the Williamsport Firefighters, IAFF Local 736.  He was a past President of the Local as well as a trustee.

He was a Life Member of the Independent Fire Company #1, South Williamsport, PA.  While an active member, he held the positions of Financial Secretary and Lieutenant.

He was also an active firefighter and EMT at William Cameron Engine Company in Lewisburg, PA for the past several years.

Chief Cole was an avid instructor, holding positions as a PA State Fire Academy Adjunct Instructor, and a Fire Instructor with Bucks County Community College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Reading Area Community College, and a member of the Keystone Fire Instructors.
